Woke up extra early and went hunting for a proper NYC deli to get some bagels and cream cheese. I had heard of CARNEGIE DELI and had seen it around the corner from where we are staying. Today the sky is beautiful clear and blue and its icy cold like a morning in canberra. The Deli is SOOOO American its awesome. Theres about 12 people behind the counter and they got cured ham, salami, pickles and pastrami everywhere. The owner walked in half way through my order and started yelling at the workers- he wasnt yelling he was just talking in the fast, loud typical NYC accent- 'whatchu doo-an, d'chu put it dare?'. Than he got angry at a worker and started asking ME why the worker hadnt loaded the cakes in the spinning display. It was sooo funy, like straight out of a movie scene. These cream cheese Bagels were MUCH BETTER than the other day.
The bagels were much softer and a more subtle sweetness with light and creamy cheese- very satisfying!! I also got a Dr. Browns original creaming soda which is the famed ORIGINAL creaming soda drink and it was creamy and only a little fizzly.
I also went past Starbucks to try and get some drinkable coffee. The lady serving me couldnt make out my accent i had to repeat myself 5 times- 'CAPP-AAA-CINO'. To our delight, the coffee was excellent!! No wonder starbucks did so well in this part of the world, they are the only ones that make proper coffee.
Beautiful day today- cant wait to hit the town!
